Room: 1st Floor Meditation Hall

Beginning with short guided meditations to relax body and mind we use a variety of Asian papers, black ink, and limited colour to begin our explorations. Demonstrations using materials from nature , and brush exercises will enhance our innate understanding of ‘making an authentic mark’. Guided by technical know-how and our own intuition this all–level workshop will immerse us in a mostly silent experience of ‘basic goodness’ through brush, paper, paint.

Heather Midori Yamada is a professional visual artist and educator. Much of her artwork reflects the influences of her contemplative practises- shodo, ikebana, yoga and meditation. A long-time student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche Heather combines her love of Japanese washi papers, inks and colour accessing traditional natural subject matter with contemporary approaches in mark-making.
