The Study Group

What better way to explore a book on conversation than with a book study with lots of conversation. This book study will be based on short readings and small group discussion.

The Book: "The Lost Art of Good Conversation" by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche

Why in the era of cell phones and social media are so many people feeling burned out, distant from colleagues, and abandoned by family and friends?

The Lost Art of Good Conversation isn't just a book it's a movement toward establishing good communication and openness. focused on forging stronger relationships with our friends, family and fellow citizens by developing the relationship we have with ourselves.

The Sakyong highlights the importance of good conversation in these challenging times—exploring how we can awaken to our lives through the simple act of conversing with others.

The underlying message is that our world is in dire need of kindness and compassion. Simply by shifting the focus of our life away from our own agenda, we can connect with others and the greater world.

The Third JewelThe community of practitioners is known as the Third Jewel in Buddhism.  The practice of community is know as a jewel like because it is a necessary aspect in "Waking Up",  we simply need the relationship of others as a mirror to ourselves.  This book study is hosted by Local Leadership and is an invitation to gather and practice as the Third Jewel.
