In times of chaos when the world is spinning out of control, meditation can seem low on the priority list. Some may think we must choose between a deep spiritual path or an engaged and sometimes overwhelmed life of service to others. However, the Shambhala Buddhist tradition suggests that both ways of being are possible, and in fact urgently necessary.

The more awake we become, the more powerful and effective we will be in our worldly and enlightened activity.

Shambhala Meditation is an embodiment practice, expressed through three contemplations. This practice opens us to our own wisdom, tenderness and bravery, and is an antidote to the self doubt and suffering we see all around us. Acharya John will give instruction on this profound practice, offer teaching on creating an engaged culture of kindness and help us to explore the basic goodness at the root of all of our experience.

This weekend program is open to everyone, regardless of previous meditation experience. All are welcome to the Friday night introductory talk. The full weekend program will include meditation instruction, practice, and open conversation. Preregistration and 50% deposit is recommended to hold your spot.

Dates and times: Friday, April 13, 7:30 – 9:00 PM; Saturday, April 14, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM; and Sunday, April 15, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Please note that this program starts on Friday evening (even though the Friday evening talk is open to the public).

Pricing and generosity: We are unable to offer our usual Generosity Policy for this program. If the “program price” is an obstacle for you, please consider paying the “reduced price”. If you are unable to afford the reduced price, please contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible. For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”.
